![]() Every time he mentions Stuntboy’s nemesis, Herbert Singletary the Worst, you will laugh out loud at his pitch-perfect delivery. He reads with enthusiasm while varying his volume, pacing, tone, and accent and even sings a few parts. Lockard shines in an over-the-top cartoonish way that is perfectly appropriate for bringing a hybrid book to audio. The third-person narration works particularly well with Guy Lockard handling the omniscient narrator as Nile Bullock tackles Portico’s spoken dialogue. Stuntboy’s heroics help him cope with the impending separation of his parents-the titular “meantime.” The story is told through 10 episodes that parallel Portico’s favorite sf show, and the full cast of narrators does a spectacular job bringing the story to life. ![]() ![]() ![]() Portico Reeves’ secret alter ego is Stuntboy, “the greatest superhero you’ve never heard of.” He spends his days keeping the residents of his apartment building-which he is sure is really a castle-safe. ![]()
